Last Fall I moved to Ann Arbor Michigan to serve as area coordinator and Assistant Professor for the photography program at Eastern Michigan University. Below is some of my recent activity thank you for taking a look.
EXHIBITIONS Spinning Yarns, Travelling exhibition I was recently asked to be part of a travelling group show called Spining Yarns. The show curated by Anne Massoni and Libby Rowe is based around narrative and storytelling in photography. The show opened at Kendall Galleries, College of Art and Design of Ferris State University in Grand Rapids MI in February and is scheduled to exhibit at the University of St Francis, Fort Wayne, Indiana; Baylor, Waco, Texas; and Monmouth University, West Long Branch, New Jersey. With more venues to come!
Artist’s Choice, Detroit Center for Contemporary Photography I was invited by the DCCP to exhibit a piece last month in their artist choice exhibition to commemorate there move to the Russel Industrial Center in Detroit. The Show also coincided with ArtX Detroit
UTOPIC, Wessel Snyman Creative Last fall, I had a solo exhibition of my Utopic work at Wessel Snyman Creative in Cape Town South Africa.
RECENT ACKNOWLEDGMENT SPE Gary B Fritz Image maker award
My presentation this year at the national Society of Photographic Education confrence"Utopic, Our Artifical Relationship With Nature" was awarded the Gary B Fritz Image maker award. This award is given to one first-time imagemaker presenter at an SPE national conference with an outstanding proposal.
Elements of Photography
In addition to the Short Course books, I was approached to have a number of pieces included in the 2nd edition of the Elements of Photography text published by Focal Press and written by Algela Faris Belt. The new edition is scheduled to be out next fall.
